Stories of He and She
This series began with twenty‑one different people. Through sculpture, Pon records their stories while also unfolding her own. Each piece is a portrait shaped from encounters, conversations, and the evolving relationship she has with each person.
Pon is drawn to figurative sculpture because one person can have many faces. Through observation and study, she seeks to understand the unique qualities that make each individual who they are. In the past, she often worried about not coming from a formal art background, focusing heavily on technique and polish. Over time, however, she realized that the core of a work is no longer about how accurate or “perfect” it looks, but about the perspective from which it is created and the meaning it aims to convey.
Freed from rigid expectations, this series becomes a practice in telling human stories — simply and honestly — one portrait at a time.
A portrait made in homage to Yayoi Kusama, marking a moment of doubt, persistence, and renewed passion for wool.
