Hugger Monster & Friends
A small family of monsters born from everyday jokes and imagination, each carrying their own kind of magic.
The monsters in this series are mostly born from small, unplanned moments in everyday life — a joke, a photo, a conversation. They're not tightly designed characters, but small beings that grow out of real emotions and everyday exchanges, each carrying their own kind of magic, personality, and story.
So far, this family includes Hugger Monster and his good friend, Cloudia.
Hugger Monster
Long arms and a softly glowing body — born from a joke about clouds and fog.
Year / 2020
Medium / Wool
One day, I asked a friend if there were any clouds where he was — as a self‑declared cloud lover, I enjoy collecting skies from different places. "Of course," he said, and sent a photo: "Look at this huge cloud!" When I opened it, I nearly laughed out loud — that wasn't a cloud at all, just a thick blanket of fog.
I knew he was joking, but I also felt a little disappointed by a sky with no sun in sight. So I quickly sketched a monster onto the photo and sent it back, saying, "What a beautiful sky — so beautiful you almost missed this monster." He laughed, and I'd successfully made his day a little more amusing.
This long‑armed creature carries a strange magic inside him, one that glows faintly green. Perhaps one day you'll spot him quietly playing outside your window, his body flickering with that soft green light.
Cloudia
A purple creature from the world of clouds, with curly hair and blushed cheeks — Hugger Monster's closest friend.
Year / 2020
Medium / Wool
This cute purple creature is Hugger Monster's good friend, named Cloudia — a name combining "Cloud" and "Claudia," since she is a monster from the world of clouds, able to move and drift freely wherever the clouds go.
With curly hair and rosy, blushed cheeks, Cloudia has a chubby little body that gives away her love of food — chocolate, in particular, is her favorite.
