Quiet Restraint
A wearable object shaped by the emotional atmosphere of the pandemic.
Created during the pandemic, this work begins with the everyday atmosphere of restriction, stillness, and emotional uncertainty that shaped that period. The face mask became a defining symbol of the time —an immediate boundary between the body and the world. Through wool, soft textures, color, and a wearable form, Pon transforms the pressure, loneliness, and quiet hope of that period into an object closely tied to the body.
Although it takes the form of a belt, the work is not intended as a purely functional accessory. Instead, it exists between sculpture and wearable object. For Pon, it speaks of restraint, but also of protection; of distance, but also of the search for strength within limitation.
